Each year since 2009, Grease Rag hosts a Winter Skill Share and Gear Swap share for FTW bikers (Femme/Trans/Women, Non-binary, Two-spirit) in the Twin Cities to learn about Winter riding and get to know one another. Our Streets Minneapolis got in touch with Patrick (they/them or he/him) and Annie (she/her) of Grease Rag to learn more about the upcoming event.

For the past 11 years, Our Streets Minneapolis & the City of Minneapolis have been opening up streets across Minneapolis for people to explore. Open Streets Minneapolis is a space for communities to come together and enjoy streets without cars.

This Sunday, October 10th we’re opening up Lyndale Ave S for you to explore! Open Streets Minneapolis on Lyndale is our longest route - just about 4 miles of car-free fun! Each year is an exciting, unique event full of vendors, entertainment, and more. Here are 6 things to look forward to at Lyndale:

Our Streets Minneapolis is thrilled to welcome Alex Burns to the team to lead the Rethinking I-94 campaign. 

Alex will be helping lead a community-centered campaign to put people first in Minnesota Department of Transportation’s Rethinking I-94 project. This project will determine the future of the I-94 highway corridor between downtown Minneapolis and downtown Saint Paul. The construction of I-94 was devastating for communities along the corridor and the highway’s harms are ongoing. Urban highways lie at the foundation of an auto-centric transportation system that divides neighborhoods, pollutes communities and destroys our climate. Today, transportation is Minnesota’s largest source of greenhouse gas emissions. If we want to truly build a sustainable transportation system that works for everyone, we must move beyond urban highways like I-94.
