The reconstruction of Hennepin Ave S from W Lake Street to Douglas Ave presents an opportunity for us to create a street that truly puts people first. The City of Minneapolis has presented us with two options for a future layout.
Layout Option 1 includes bike lanes, transit lanes and adequate pedestrian infrastructure.
Layout Option 2 does not allow for bike lanes on the street.
Of these two options, only Layout Option 1 will help us achieve our goals of making walking, biking and rolling easy and comfortable on Hennepin Avenue.
We need to let the City of Minneapolis know that Option 1 is the only acceptable layout for the street. There are two ways to do this:

Take this city survey by Friday, April 16th. Be sure to select Layout Option 1 as your preferred option in the survey.
- Let your city council member know that you support Layout Option 1. You can say something like “My name is ______ and I live in Ward ___. I believe that the reconstruction of Hennepin Avenue is an unprecedented opportunity for our city to create a street that truly puts people first. I believe that bikes belong on Hennepin Avenue and therefore only support the design Option 1 presented by the city”.
