After two years, West River Parkway is re-opening north of Franklin Avenue! And, after 6 months, the Franklin Avenue bridge is re-opening with protected bike lanes included!

Protected bike lanes on Hennepin & 1st NE?

The Hennepin Ave bridge now has buffered bike lanes. And those may connect soon to protected bike lanes on Hennepin and 1st Ave NE across the river from Downtown too!

A new Hennepin/1st Avenue Transportation Study includes 6 options--all with protected bike lanes. We hope to see them as soon as next year. If you are interested in learning more, we'll be discussing at our Downtown Bikeways meeting Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 6pm at our office.

Public Works Director

The City's new Public Works Director, Robin Hutcheson, started this week!

We are happy to welcome Ms. Hutcheson to the Department, which manages streets, water, sewers, recycling, and more.

Submit your well-wishes to Ms. Hutcheson here along with your vision for the Department. We'll be giving her your thoughts next week.

Blaisdell and 11th Ave bikeways nearly done! Broadway NE can improve

You may have noticed changes happening on Blaisdell Avenue and 11th Avenue South. The new protected bike lanes on both will be finished anytime now! You can see a map of all this year's protected bikeway addition's here.

Meanwhile, the new Boardway Ave NE bikeway/sidewalk is open, but leaves some room for improvement.

Orange Line BRT stays on track

The Orange Line bus rapid transit line is planned to run on 35W from Minneapolis to Burnsville. It includes a tremendous new station at Lake Street with a direct bicycle/walking connection to the Midtown Greenway (the picture here). Funding was threatened for the Orange Line, but after local officials and stakeholders stood up, the Counties Transit Improvement Board found a solution to keep the line on track!
