Tell Mayor Frey what should be in the City budget

A number of folks from the Downtown Bikeways workgroup attended the May 16th CLIC hearing to express our support for creating a protected bikeway from the Whittier neighborhood to Downtown. We joined six or seven members of the Northside Greenway Now group in asking CLIC to create safer spaces for bicyclists and pedestrians. (If you didn’t get a chance to check out the Northside Greenway demonstration project in 2016, you can read more about this really exciting project here.)

There is another opportunity for us to voice our support allocating money for safer streets in the next budget - this time with Mayor Frey! Mayor Frey is hosting an event called “Budget 101” at the Powderhorn Park Recreation Center from 6:00 - 8:30pm on June 10th. The description of the event states that, “You [will] have the opportunity to consult the Mayor and staff on your budget feedback and ideas.” It also says that seating will be limited, so you should RSVP here ahead of time.

Wondering what you could ask for? In addition to asking for a better bike connection between Whittier & Downtown, or offering support for the Northside Greenway, you could check out our posts on winter sidewalk maintenance and the City's Transportation Action Plan for inspiration.

If you’re able to attend, please let us know on Twitter about your experience! @OurStreetsMPLS
