Join the Fun this Sunday at Open Streets Northeast

logo-2017.pngGet ready folks, Open Streets Northeast is just around the corner! Come out on Sunday, August 6th from 11 am until 5 pm to experience the neighborhood in a whole new way.

We have 3 miles of streets open for you to explore by foot or by wheels, so grease your bike chain and take out your walking shoes because you won't want to miss this event! The new route this year will span from Hennepin Ave to 5th St NE, up to 22nd Ave NE and over to Central Ave. You can explore all three nodes of activity and the open space to roam in between.

Music

Anjoli_Punjabi_NE_2016_(3).jpgThere will be lots of live music to enjoy during Open Streets Northeast to keep you moving and grooving.

Stop by the MPRB Showmobile Stage at 22nd Ave and Jackson Square Park and join the Ecuadorian Independence Day Festival! They'll have music and performances happening all day long as well as a parade starting around noon, which will go from 26th Ave down Central Ave to Jackson Square Park.

Monica LaPlante will be performing with Hollander Records on Hennepin Ave and 4th St NE

Ginger Hop and Honey will host performances at Hennepin and 2nd St NE

Also, Red Stag's In Cahoots Block Party will be happening during Open Streets. They'll have 7 special collaborative beers made by 14 local breweries as well as a full line up of performances from 2pm until 8pm. 

Food

26 food and drink vendors will be coming out for the event, so there's plenty of delicious options to satisfy your taste buds and keep your adventures fueled throughout day.

On Central Ave, between 26th and 18 1/2 Ave NE, you can find the Eastside Food Co-op, Aswar Rahman, Sen Yai Sen Lek, Anelace Coffee, El Pollo De Los Santos, Las Delicias Mi Tierra, Cranky's Ice Cream, Mojo Coffee, Pepper Jax Philly Express, Sssdude-Nutz, and more!

Along the 5th St NE Greenway, there will be food from Sikora's Polish Market, DelSur Empanadas, and Valcano Hibachi.

Down by Hennepin Ave and 5th St NE there will be lots of treats including Spinning Wylde, La la Homemade Ice Cream, Glam Doll Donuts, Flagsmash, Nordic Waffles, and Kona Ice.

Fun

Take a care-free bike ride down the 5th Street Pop-up Greenway, learn some Latin dance moves with One Reason Dance Studio, play basketball with the Minnesota Timberwolves, learn how to skateboard with City of Skate or get your work out in with Shift Fitness.

There's so many ways to stay active.

Be sure to check out the Kids Zone and the Pet Zone along 5th St NE, especially if you're bringing the little ones along.

There's unlimited options to chose from as you create your Open Streets adventure.
