Last month, Hennepin County Public Works committed to an upcoming 4-3 conversion on Lyndale Ave S. This is a great first step, but there is not a confirmed timeline for this project. Without a clear timeline, it is uncertain when communities can expect the benefits of this conversion.
We are organizing a group of volunteers who can push for this conversion to happen sooner rather than later. Our goals in this campaign are to continue to contact and put public pressure on Hennepin County Commissioner Marion Greene and Hennepin County Public Works department until:
- The 4-3 conversion is made public on the Hennepin County Lyndale Avenue Safety Improvements page and
- A start date for the project is announced
We have a series of action steps for volunteers to reach decision makers and urge them to meet these asks. Action steps will be revealed each week and range from online action to in-person engagement. By volunteering, you can help get the attention of Hennepin County Commissioners, the Public Works department, and other county decision makers who have the authority to make positive changes on these streets. You can help make this project happen on a timeline that works for the people.
We invite all levels of involvement with this campaign. If you're interested in volunteering on the Lyndale campaign, we invite you to continue your work with the broader County Streets for People campaign. Demonstrating our collective voice for Lyndale Ave S shows county decision makers that we are determined to change other county owned streets as well.
Sign up to volunteer below and someone will be in contact with next steps. For questions about involvement or to sign up via email, contact our Volunteer Coordinator at [email protected]. Our Streets Minneapolis strives to make volunteer positions as accessible as possible, please don't hesitate to reach out with any accommodation requests.
