On June 26th 2014, volunteers met at the Coalition office to discuss event planning for 2014 and beyond. Many volunteers were new to the Coalition, and expressed interest in getting more involved in the Minneapolis bicycle community.
After some discussion of the group's history and past events, small groups formed to discuss specific event ideas for the coming months. One event that has already been planned is the RAD! Ride, which takes place on Saturday July 12th (more info can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/events/666434383430619/).
Volunteers then chose where they would like to focus their efforts: rides, happy hours, or community partnership events. Each group hopes to hold 2-4 events in 2014. Some of the ideas proposed included a happy hour regarding safety, a ride to a destination such as Stillwater, a night ride, and a partnership event with the Midtown Greenway Coalition. Small groups will meet as they are able, and the large group will meet again in late July to discuss planning progress.
