On Wednesday, August 7th, the Events/Outreach group gathered for their latest meeting. Many updates were shared, including:

Ethan Fawley has been hired as the Executive Director for the Minneapolis Bicycle Coalition -
A Community Organizer position has been posted -
Isaiah Bischoff is going on a bike ride to raise money for the Coalition. He has surpassed his initial goal of $3000 (Quality Bicycle Products has pledged to match all donations up to $3000), and has set a new goal of $5000. He sets off on his ride August 15th. Click here to donate today. -
The Coalition Member Party will take place September 28th. Volunteers are needed to help with the event; if you are interested, there is a mini-organizing meeting from 6-7pm on Wednesday, August 14th at Common Roots in Uptown. Email [email protected] for more information. -
The first annual “Twin Cities Motion Pictures”, a fundraiser for the Coalition, will take place on August 24th at the Parkway Theater in Minneapolis. Volunteers are needed to man the bike parking; contact [email protected] if you are interested in volunteering.
The Rides group gave a recap of the “Bike to the Beach” event that took place on Sunday, August 4th. The group aims to organize two more rides for 2013. A call was put out for a volunteer(s) to organize this group, call meetings, and keep them on track.
The Happy Hour group summarized their latest event with Chris Wells and expressed a goal of putting on four more happy hours in 2013. Suggestions for speakers and venues are always welcome.
Questions were raised about whether the Coalition Board is satisfied with the progress the Events/Outreach group has made in 2013 and whether they have any constructive criticism or other feedback; the Board will be approached and feedback will be shared with the group.
The next Events/Outreach group meeting is scheduled for September 25th, 2013.
