Roger Geller--Portland's long time bicycle coordinator--will be in town presenting on how Portland became a great bicycling city. Join us to learn how we can take their best ideas and bring them to Minneapolis. This event is presented by Bike Walk Twin Cities in collaboration with the Minneapolis Bicycle Coalition and the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota.

Roger has been Portland, Oregon's Bicycle Coordinator since 2000 and has been with the city's Bicycle Program since 1994. He has 17 years of experience managing bicycle capital, planning and policy projects. His position requires an in-depth knowledge of design, policy, planning and maintenance relating to bicycle transportation. During his tenure he has contributed to the implementation of hundreds of miles of bikeways, the introduction of many innovations to Portland's streets and planning vocabulary and to the successful evaluation of their effect. Roger has striven to effectively understand and communicate Portland's accomplishments and approach to local, national and international audiences.

Roger has a B.S. in Chemistry and an M.A. in Urban and Environmental Policy, both from Tufts University. He has taught numerous classes, workshops and seminars in bikeway planning, policy and design and has presented often at national and local conferences. He recently toured Canadian cities as part of a State Department Invited Scholar program and Australian cities as an invited keynote speaker at that country's national bicycle conference. He recently finished advising a multi-city effort to develop a comprehensive national urban bicycling design guide.
