Biking Encouragement

This Committee supports work to promote biking through our four main encouragement programs: 1) Community Bicycle Connectors--a new program focused on working with community-based organizations to help individuals bicycle more; and 2) Bicycle Buddies--a program to encourage current bicyclists to inspire and support new people to try biking.

Downtown Bikeways Team

If you work, live, travel, or are just interested in Downtown bicycle infrastructure, this is the group for you. They focus on supporting activities to build support for new protected bikeways in downtown. They meet monthly on the first Wednesday of the month at 6pm. Galen Ryan is the volunteer chair; Ethan Fawley is the staff lead.

Event Planning Committee (the FUN Committee)

This Committee is a group that gathers once a month to get together, create community and ultimately plan and support events that the Our Streets MPLS hosts. These events vary from Advocacy Skillshares, Rides, Happy Hours, and many more - the sky is the limit! We are looking for folks who are interested in connecting with others, bringing joy to biking/walking, love planning or being creative, and taking meaningful action. Join in and make FUN happen! Open Streets Planning Task Force

Do you love Open Streets? Are you interested in getting a firsthand look into the planning process of a specific route or the whole event? This is the group for you! In January 2017 a group will form that will help plan Open Streets 2017. All folks are welcome. Nick Ray Olson is the staff lead. In addition, there are planning committees for each Open Streets events, which meet 3-6 times a year.

Pedestrian Task Force

Our Streets MPLS is taking on Pedestrian Advocacy! We invite all people who are excited about advocating for pedestrians to join us for this monthly meeting. This group is helping determine our pedestrian advocacy priorities and will support making those priorities a reality. The group meets monthly and will set a regular meeting time soon. Julia Curran is volunteer lead; Ethan Fawley is staff lead.

Fundraising Committee

This committee supports staff around growing the capacity for our work, typically with a focus on individual donations. It also tracks fundraising progress and reports to the Board regularly. It typically meets monthly on second Mondays at 6pm at the Coalition office. Fundraising experience is not required, but members should have interest in supporting individual giving, Open Streets sponsorships, or grant writing.
