#WeWalkMpls is back for the second year! Join Our Streets Minneapolis and the City of Minneapolis as we work together to highlight folks who walk as a primary way to get around our city.
What is #WeWalkMpls?
The #WeWalkMpls project is a collaboration between Our Streets Minneapolis and the City of Minneapolis. Our goal is to celebrate walking in our city and encourage more folks to try walking for transportation.
In 2018 we interviewed folks who walk to get around and created social media graphics featuring their photos and quotes.
This year we made the graphic into a photo booth for folks to use at Open Streets Minneapolis events. That way, we can include even more people in our movement.
How can I be a part of the project?
There are many ways to be part of #WeWalkMpls! The simplest one is to use the #WeWalkMpls hashtag on your Instagram or Twitter when you make posts about walking in Minneapolis, why you like walking, or places, people, or things you see while you walk.
If you have your Instagram or Twitter set to public and use the hashtag from June 1-Oct. 16, 2019, we’ll enter you into a prize drawing. What are the prizes? When you use the hashtag you’ll be entered to win one of two $100 stored value Metro Transit Go-to cards, or the grand prize: a $250 stored value Metro Transit Go-to card!
The best part: you can enter as many times as you like! Make sure your account is set to public on Oct. 16 so we’re sure to count your entries.
You can also be part of the project by joining us at the Our Streets Minneapolis booth at any of the 2019 Open Streets Minneapolis events. We’ll have our pop-up photo booth there for you to use. The first 10 folks who use the photo booth at each event will receive a free #WeWalkMpls glass water bottle.
And, if you post your photo booth picture on your public Instagram or Twitter on event day we’ll enter you into a drawing for $100 to a local grocery store. Walk to groceries anyone?
