It’s been a long cold winter, but finally spring has arrived! One sure sign the seasons are changing is that Open Streets Minneapolis is just around the corner.
In 2014, there will be SIX (count ‘em, six!) Open Streets events across the city. They’ll be back on Lyndale, Central, and Lowry Avenues and new this year on Girard/Humboldt, Nicollet, and Franklin Avenues. But the Minneapolis Bicycle Coalition needs your support to make these events happen!

As a member and volunteer for the Minneapolis Bicycle Coalition, I’ve seen the energy and excitement that Open Streets sparks—where residents and businesses in a community come together and showcase what’s in their own backyard. Open Streets also gives the chance for others from outside to visit and enjoy what those who live and work in the community already know. Plus the ultimate benefit…the chance to explore a community without motorized traffic! Instead of engines, you hear music and laughter. Instead of exhaust, you smell the aroma of local restaurants. Instead of sitting in a car, you’re walking, biking, rollerblading, skateboarding…moving your body. You can bring the family because there’s something for everyone! Ain’t no party like an Open Streets party!
