Seven exciting stops at Open Streets Lyndale 2019

Join us this Sunday June 2nd for Open Streets Lyndale! Open Streets Minneapolis events are free events that temporarily close major thoroughfares to car traffic, opening them up for people walking, biking, rolling, and playing. Check out the Open Streets Lyndale Facebook page or the event webpage for more details. Here are the things that I am most excited to see at Open Streets Lyndale!

Hacienda La Paz


Location: Lyndale Ave and W 36th St

This year, Open Street Lyndale will feature… Ponies! Ponies? Yes! Come visit Hacienda La Paz to learn about this charitable organization dedicated to creating peace through sustainability, leadership and community. They will be demonstrating their leadership programs using ponies and offering pony rides for suggested donations. At the ranch you can find leadership programs for teens, community Sundays — open farm days, peace talks, among other community building programming that often includes horses!

3rd Lair Skate Park


Location: Lyndale Ave between 26th and 27th Streets from 11 AM to 5 PM

Say hello to our rolling friends again! Join 3rd Lair for their 19th annual O.U.T. Championship! The competition is free to watch and $10 to enter. Some of the most talented technical skaters in the Twin Cities will be competing for the title 2019 O.U.T. Champion.

Powderhorn 24


Location: Lyndale Ave and Midtown Greenway (close to W 29th St intersection)

Come visit Powderhorn 24 to learn about this 24-hour community bike ride that allows you to explore Mpls night and day. The ride starts at 7pm on Friday, August 2th, 2019 and ends the next day, Saturday the 3rd, at 7pm. The ride starts on the Midtown Greenway by the 10th Avenue Greenway exit, and goes in and around the Powderhorn neighborhood of Minneapolis. This is a ride for cyclists of all levels, the ultimate goal is to have an incredible weekend riding bikes and strengthening our community. Visit the booth to sign up for the ride, learn about volunteering, and more!

Health Fair 11 Community


Location: Lyndale Ave and W 22nd Street

Health Fair 11 Community will be providing you with FREE screenings from 11:30am - 3:30. You can get your blood pressure, glucose, and cholesterol checked by professionals that can answer further questions. Come by to get checked out without having to call ahead!

Ceiba Forte Law Firm and JRW Law


Location: Lyndale Ave and Midtown Greenway (close to W 29th St intersection)

Ceiba Forte Law (civil, business, and employment litigation) and JRW Law (Minneapolis Human Rights and Roadway Injury Attorneys) will be showcasing their forthcoming Virtual Reality - 360 Degree Court Experience, as well as providing free case evaluations. Among their work, JWR attorneys are cyclists, and they focus professionally on helping fellow vulnerable roadway users who were injured in bicycle accidents, pedestrian accidents, and electric scooter accidents. Don’t miss your chance to talk to professionals in the field and check out their new innovative technology!

moto-i Ramen & Sake House


Location: Lyndale Ave and W Lake St

Moto-i created their own Open Streets Lyndale menu! Check it out:  Pork Buns, Thai Fried Rice, Matcha Slushies, House Sake Matcha Slushies, and Milkjam collaboration Kasu Ice Cream. Additionally, they will have Senbonbiki, a traditional Japanese carnival game to share with whoever stops by. Don’t miss out, moto-i Ramen and Sake House is the first sake brew pub outside of Japan!

Free Bikes 4 Kidz


Location: Lyndale Ave and W 32nd St

Come learn about Free Bikes 4 Kids, a nonprofit that prioritizes bike equity in all communities. Stop by their tent, get a free bike check up, and register for the MN Ironman Bike Ride with $10 off June 2 prices. Just by registering for the ride, you are helping one kid by providing a bike and a helmet. Check out Iron Bike Ride to learn about the ride and ways to get involved.
