42nd Street Restriping Meeting on Tuesday October 9

The resurfacing of a long stretch of 42nd Street is complete, but how it will be striped remains unfinished. New striping could resemble what's happening on Park and Portland and would be completed this fall, according to Hennepin County Commissioner Peter Mclaughlin, who announced the news during the Standish-Ericsson Annual meeting.

On Tuesday from 7:15-8:30 at the Sibley Recreation Center, revised recommendations will be unveiled based on community input from a June 2012 meeting, along with pedestrian count data.

The meeting will share images of what a revised 42nd street may look like, including:

  • striped parking lanes, narrower travel lanes, and a bike lane

  • the potential removal of parking along the north side of 42nd street between 19th and 26th avenues, and between 29th and Nokomis Avenues

  • Pedestrian improvements include medians to ease crossings.

Attend the meeting to share your input.
